September Harvest

Part of yesterday's harvest from our garden - the last of the blueberries and blackberries, chunky yellow-orange heirloom tomatoes, roma tomatoes for canning and more cherry tomatoes for eating fresh. Purple and green beans, pole and bush varieties to eat fresh and to can. In addition to the bounty in the photo, we harvested potatoes and onions. Yum-my.

I love the colors and textures of the harvest, vivid and muted, coarse and smooth. It's fun to mix and match veggies and fruit and herbs to share with friends.

The freezer is stocked with frozen berries from earlier in the summer, soon to be made into jam and jelly. ... It's time to work on some other projects, too, after a summer of travel and visiting and exploring and classes and re-discovering treasures (from special people and places) in my own home as I sift through my stash.
