My mother pieced this quilt for my niece who is starting college in the fall. I took this photo before I dropped it off to be quilted. The quilt is bright and warm.
I still use the quilt my Tutu (hawaiian grandmother) made for me when I went to college. It is made with hawaiian material scraps and scraps from clothing my mother made for us when we were growing up. Since I was going to college on the mainland it has a flannel backing to help keep me warm. The quilt has been with me through many homes and transitions. It is tattered and worn in spots, and has been patched many times. It comforts me and reminds me of where I come from.
