The kitchen windowsill Saturday morning. Two canvas pieces rest there where I can see them as I go through the normal business of my day. This is where my artwork simmers when its being made.

The larger canvas is 8"x8"x3". It is painted with acrylics on the front and sides in shades of green and purple.

Fabric pieces were auditioned for the next layer. Mostly paisley shapes and circles. The fabrics are hand-dyed.

Before the fabric layer was added, another coat of paint was applied to mute the vibrant colors of the first coat. The fabric pieces were then fused to the painted canvas with steam-a-seam2. A heart of several layers of angelina film adds some sparkle.

The second canvas is 6"x6"x1.5". It was painted with the same colors as the first canvas.

A second layer of paint was also applied to this piece. In the photo the fabric has been fused. The black and white swirl was left over from a recent project. The shimmery pieces made from angelina fibers were attached with Mistyfuse instead of steam-a-seam2.

Dimensional paint was used to add definition and texture.
Out of town for a few days, the two pieces are wrapped and safely stowed in a bag that came with us... to be restored to their place on the windowsill upon our return home.
